Setup compared

Both are hosted, so neither needs a Google Cloud project or anything installed. The difference is the account in the middle.

GSC Wizard, per its MCP page and MCP docs on 2 October 2026:

  1. Create a free GSC Wizard account: sign in with Google and connect Search Console.
  2. Create an API key under Account, API keys (choosing read-only or read and write), or use one-click sign-in in ChatGPT, Claude or Grok.
  3. Add mcp.gscwizard.com as a connector and ask. In ChatGPT you can install the GSC Wizard app instead of a developer-mode connector.

GSC Wizard says this takes about two minutes. The MCP tools need an active subscription or a running trial.

Search Console MCP, the hosted Google Search Console MCP server:

  1. Add https://mcpsearchconsole.com/mcp as a connector in your AI client.
  2. Sign in with Google and approve the read-only Search Console permission.
  3. Ask a question.

There is no separate dashboard account to set up first: your Google sign-in is the account. In ChatGPT both need a plan that allows connectors; GSC Wizard's app route avoids developer mode, ours does not.

What each can do that the other cannot

What GSC Wizard can do that Search Console MCP cannot

  • Go back further than 16 months. On "full storage" properties it keeps up to 10 years of history (as stated on its pricing page). We read Google live, so you get Google's 16 months and no more. If year-on-year comparisons over several years matter, this is the main reason to choose it.
  • Answer big questions fast. Subscribers' queries run on its own ClickHouse database rather than paging through the API; it quotes a full report over a 4 GB dataset in about 4.4 seconds.
  • Many more tools. Its docs list 126, including change-point and anomaly detection, forecasting, an algorithm-update list, content groups and topic clusters, migration comparisons, brand versus non-brand splits and shareable client reports.
  • GA4, Bing, Yandex and IndexNow. Its docs list GA4 tools (overview, reports, key events, ecommerce), Bing Webmaster Tools and Yandex Webmaster data, and IndexNow submission with a read and write key. We cover Google Search Console only.
  • A dashboard, alerts and scheduled reports. GSC Wizard is a full web app with Slack, Teams and webhook alerts; the MCP is one way into it. We are only a connector for your AI.
  • Gemini and Meta Muse have setup guides on its site. They are not on our list.

What Search Console MCP can do that GSC Wizard cannot

  • Keep working for free. Our free plan has no end date (15 data pulls a day, 40 a month, 3 properties). GSC Wizard's MCP tools need a subscription after the 7-day trial.
  • Not keep your data. We fetch from Google on each call and pass the answer to your AI without storing report contents. GSC Wizard's speed and long history come from storing your data on its servers. Which you prefer depends on your data policy.
  • Cover a whole company at one price. Team is €29.99 a month for everyone signing in with your company domain, with no seat count. GSC Wizard counts seats.
  • Site checks. DNS records, redirect chains, robots.txt and TLS certificates are free tools; PageSpeed returns Lighthouse plus real-user Core Web Vitals. GSC Wizard lists Core Web Vitals (CrUX) but not DNS, redirect, robots or TLS checks.
  • Grok Bot, Cursor, Codex and Mistral Vibe are documented clients for us.

Both cover the analyses most people ask for first: striking distance, cannibalization, low CTR and what rose or fell. Neither tracks SERP rankings, backlinks or keyword volumes.

Cost over a year

Both are hosted, so there is no server to run and your time cost is close to zero either way. The yearly price is the comparison. Prices exclude VAT; GSC Wizard's were read on 2 October 2026.

Team of 11€359.88 (Team, whole domain)€2,988 (Business, owner + 10)

The table shows that we are cheaper for the same headcount, and that GSC Wizard's price buys things we do not offer, chiefly stored history, GA4 and Bing data and a reporting app. If you would use those, compare GSC Wizard with the cost of the tools you would otherwise buy for them, not with us. Our pricing page has the full plan details.

How to switch

From GSC Wizard to Search Console MCP

  1. Add https://mcpsearchconsole.com/mcp as a connector and sign in with the Google account that has your properties.
  2. Ask "list my Search Console properties" to check access.
  3. Before cancelling, export anything older than 16 months you want to keep: once the subscription ends, history beyond Google's window is not something we can rebuild.
  4. Remove the GSC Wizard connector and revoke its API keys from its API keys page.

Prompts that ask in plain language carry over. Prompts that name GSC Wizard tools, or rely on its tags, content groups or saved reports, need rewriting.

From Search Console MCP to GSC Wizard

  1. Create a GSC Wizard account, connect Search Console and start the 7-day trial.
  2. Add mcp.gscwizard.com as a connector.
  3. Copy any notes you saved with us (ask "list my notes"), then remove our connector, cancel any paid plan from your account page and revoke our access in your Google account.
